Motor-controller configuration in the browser
Configure and tune a motor from one browser tab

The problem
Configuring a motor controller meant working through its parameter description files, running separate flashing and serial tools, and setting values by hand: work for specialists. Each new motor application started from hand-set parameters and trial on the bench.
What we built
We built a web application that talks to the controller straight from the browser, over the controller's own serial bus. It reads the controller's parameter description files and shows the parameters in a basic view for everyday users and an expert view for engineers. Live charts stream speed, current, voltage and temperature, configurations are saved and versioned per project, and a guided flow takes a user from connection through a motor template and firmware to automatic tuning.
What changed
- Controllers connected, configured and monitored from a browser tab, with no desktop software to install
- Motor parameters in a basic view for everyday users and an expert view for engineers
- Live telemetry for speed, current, voltage and temperature
- A guided commissioning flow: connect, pick a motor template, load firmware, tune automatically
- Rolled out to the client's users in beta
What production made hard
- Browsers reach hardware through a narrow serial interface, so connecting, retrying and timing out had to survive cables, drivers and power cycles.
- Parameter files are written for tools, not people; deciding what an everyday user sees was product work as much as parsing.
- Automatic tuning moves a real motor, so every step needed limits and a safe way to stop.
What a similar project needs
- Bench hardware and the controller's documentation available to the team from the first week.
- A clear line between what everyday users may change and what stays behind an expert view.
- Field users willing to try a beta and say what confuses them.
